Sunday, April 6, SCHIMBA rides again (in the mud)
April 6th, 2008
Cabin fever finally overcame the reluctance to ride in the mud. 70+ degree weather with sunshine helped also. Still we had only a half club with John, Dennis, and Randy meeting at 3 pm and riding the Sulphur Spring, Holt Cemetery, and Worley Bottom loops and then crossing the creek and riding the Sugar Camp Hollow loop. 8.76 miles, moving time 2 hr. 23 min. Total ascent 712 feet.
Here are some pictures:
Dennis Crossing Robinson Branch bridge
Randy fording Robinson Branch
Randy and Dennis at the boat put in (under water)
John at the boat put in
watching the creek
we may have a problem here soon
Randy riding across the beaver pond
Randy washes his bike in the waterfall
the waterfall is still going strong
shooting stars are in bloom
Devil’s Urn
Bridge maintenance
The plan is to ride again Tuesday at around 5 pm.
John

Howdy Folks. It has been muddy here too. I went out at 5 am to get in a ride at the lake before the big nasty storm system gets here tonight. A friend of mine has asked me (talked me into) training for some solo 12 and 24 hour races. As soon as he gets a road bike (for training rides) we will start meeting early and late to start building our endurance up to this level. I will be in for a visit in May. I can’t wait to ride with you guys! EC Barber
